The crime stats in our community have been non-existent since November, 2022. There have been

no reported issues. The contact number for non-emergencies is 301-932-2222. Call 911 for

emergencies. The crime website cityprotect.com tracks “called-in” reports only and not what the

officer’s finds upon arrival.

There will be 2 major meetings held this year. On April 12, 2023 at 7:00, the Crime Watch Kick-0ff

will occur at the La Plata American Legion. Later in the fall, the Citizens Advisory Meeting will be set.

On 5/20/2023, the Charles County Community Clean up will occur. Bags, gloves, and trash pick up

will be provided.

• Dan Morris, Treasurer, presented the Treasurer’s Report

• Robyn Major informed members of the Maryland Reserve Study that is now required every 5 years.

Funds must be available to keep up common areas. There is a possibility that more funding will be

required from home owners. Plans for renovations have been placed on hold until the study is

complete and a determination is made of what is required. The question was asked, “Who will pay for

the study?” The answer appears to be the HOA. An article with links has been posted on the HOA

Facebook page.

• Continuation of prior discussion regarding changes to the tennis court. A suggestion was made to

change the tennis court into a multi-purpose sports area to encourage more use. We will have a better

idea of what is possible after the study is complete. A suggestion was also made to have a member

accompany the architect while doing the study.

• The Board has hired a new Landscape Company based upon a lower bid and providing a few more

services that the previous company did not provide. The new company, Grass Tech-Lawn Service will

charge $1,040.00 per month which will include include planting perennials and other upgrades to the

front entrance and blowing/clearing leaves in the child playground area.

• The president advised that Vice President, Travis Howard, will organize and lead a Trail Clean-up in the

month of April.

• The community website is currently being set up. All members are encouraged to register for access.

Once registered, passwords will be supplied once the website is up and running.

• Lauren Posey and Amanda Howard have agreed to Chair and Co-chair the Spring Fling and National

Night Out. They will work together to propose a budget for the events.

• Our next meeting will be March 16, 2023. Members are encouraged to log in 5-6 minutes early so that

we may begin on time.

• Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm

• Board members met after adjourned. We will meet with the HOA attorney to discuss the new study requirement and collection of late HOA fees.
